Cinder by: Marissa Meyer

Spoiler Free Review:

I REALLY love fairy tale retellings. I find them to be very intriguing as it’s a story line/character you are already bonded to however there is this unknown suspense. In my experience, when I have read or watched other Cinderella retellings they generally stick pretty true to the original Disney Cinderella we all know and loved growing up. With Cinder, this is not the case…

No Spoiler Review:

Marissa Meyer really let her imagination go as this story line we have all loved since our childhood now involves killer plagues, cyborgs, droids, hover crafts, moon queens, and war! Epic… just saying. I thoroughly enjoyed this read as it kept me guessing. It was the same story but on the other had completely not, if that makes any sense. My feelings associated with the classic story line were all still present, but THIS story involves so many more emotions!

Cinder is pretty much a more sassy, messy, clever, and independent character than the original Cinderella, which only made me love her more. She has a bit more spunk and I like that. I also found that her relationship with her droid, Izo, was a little more believable than Cinderella’s relationship with a house full of mice. Marissa Meyer’s version still had the royal romance. I found myself really enjoying Prince Kai, and the banter/dialog between him and Cinder. I thought the evil step-mother/step-sister vibe was still present and very much despised. I adored Cinder’s relationship with Peony and I also felt very drawn to Cinder’s dead step-father and the role he played as her story unfolds.

Definitely a book you read fast, I couldn't put it down. GO GET IT… you will not be disappointed.I will be picking up Scarlet, the next book in the Lunar Chronicles Series, as soon as I can.

I really liked it.
